Hello

I’m a fully qualified hypnotherapist with professional psychotherapeutic and counselling training, based in Winchfield, North Hampshire, working both in-person and online. I am committed to providing a safe, respectful and supportive space for you to explore whatever has brought you to therapy. Some previous clients may also know me as Susan Sleeper (I am comfortable with either name).

Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years in local government and then the corporate pharmaceutical sector, though I always felt drawn to the psychological field. A career break for family and health reasons gave me the opportunity to pause, reflect, and retrain, first in psychology and then as a psychotherapist. This work feels like a natural home for me and I’m deeply motivated to support others in making meaningful changes in their lives.

My Approach

At the heart of my practice is the belief that healing happens through relationship with others, with the world around us and most importantly, with ourselves. The relationship we build together in therapy is central to the work we’ll do, because it is through feeling safe, being seen and heard that change becomes possible.

My approach is ‘pluralistic’, meaning I draw from a range of therapeutic methods and adapt them to fit your individual needs. While therapy offers space for exploration and understanding, I also work with your goals in mind. Whether you’re looking to gain insight, make peace with the past, shift unhelpful patterns or find direction for the future, I will support you in moving towards your goals.

I have a particular interest in working with anxiety, overthinking, low self-esteem, people-pleasing, perfectionism and life transitions, though I welcome clients with a wide range of concerns. Living through my own significant health challenges (see my page on balance disorders) deepened my appreciation of how disruptive uncertainty, loss and change can be. It also reinforced my belief in the importance of compassionate support when life becomes difficult.
